Hamilton ON - The Great Lakes Tour is pleased to confirm the 2016 Circuit Canada Pro Tour (CCPT) schedule. In January the Great Lakes Tour and CCPT announced a relationship that will see 30 Great Lakes Tour National Members gain access to each of their events. The CCPT will have $555,000 minimum purse at stake over the seven events.

Hamilton ON - The Great Lakes Tour and GolfNorth Properties have formed a relationship for 2016 that will see the creation of the GolfNorth Series on the current Great Lakes Tour schedule. The new GolfNorth Series will be replacing the old Regular Series 18 hole stroke play events. The series will be contested over seven events that will be exclusively contested on GolfNorth facilities. It will feature stops at Grey Silo GC, Batteaux Creek GC, Oliver's Nest GC, Mystic GC, Rebel Creek GC, Foxwood CC and the GolfNorth Headquarters Conestoga G&CC... Jim Kenesky and Colin Murray, both of Hamilton, Ontario, will become the majority co-owners of the Great Lakes Golf Tour Limited. The purchase includes shares of the GLT and the Southern Ontario Open. Jim Kenesky and Colin Murray, PGA of Canada members, recently joined forces and began Kenesky Murray Golf Services (KMGS) in November 2015. The company was recently awarded the contract of services to conduct and manage the PGA of Ontario Player of the Year Series events. KMGS will oversee all Great Lakes Tour (GLT) operations... FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Gormley ON - Station Creek Golf Club in Gormley ON was host course to the Great Lakes Tour (GLT) Regular Series Event #5 on Monday July 6. The course was a true test for the Tour's largest field of the season which also saw the beginning of a wonderful relationship with the PGA of Quebec. On the line for the event was 10 exemptions into the very historic Promutuel Insurance Quebec Open presented by Baton Rouge with the top 2 finishers receiving their entry fee paid. Leading the way at Station Creek was Drew Nesbitt (Oro-Medonte) who earlier won the GLT Shootout at Wyndance GC to earn paid entries for the season into all Great Lakes Tour Events. Nesbitt started his day with a bogey on the first hole but followed it up by making birdies on four of the next five holes. He made the turn at 2 under par and had 4 birdies on the back nine including a great 3 on the tricky par 4 18th finishing hole to secure the victory... FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Brantford ON - Great Lakes Tour (GLT) Players will have a little more to play for at Station Creek Golf Club for Regular Series Event #5 on Monday July 6, 2015. The GLT is pleased to announce a relationship with the PGA of Quebec and the Promutuel Insurance $100,000 Quebec Open. This relationship will see the GLT receive a minimum of 10 exemptions into this very historical and traditional event just outside Quebec CIty QUE... FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Bond Head ON - The Great Lakes Tour made a stop recently at The Club at Bond Head near Alliston ON. The beautiful Clublink facility was playing difficult but many players commented on the fast, pure greens and mentioned the surfaces were the best the GLT experienced so far this season. Brett Nymeyer (Stratford) took advantage of his extraordinary distance and the great putting surfaces to post a round of four under par 68. His round featured six birdies and two bogies. Nymeyer caught fire in the middle of his round making five birdies on holes 6 through 11. He made a late bogey on the difficult par 3 15th, but his lead was safe as he went on to win by four shots. There were five players tied for second place at even par 72. Brett Cairns (Courtland), Drew Nesbitt (Oro-Medonte), Matt Hoffman (Thornhill), Mitch Sutton (London) and Stephen Gonko (Sudbury) couldn't break the deadlock in the runner up position. Most notably... FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Paris ON - The Great Lakes Tour Platinum Series Event #1 was contested recently on June 1 - 2 at Paris Grand Country Club. The quaint town of Paris settled along the Grand River was once a familiar stop on the Tour and after a lengthy absence from the schedule the tricky par 72 Azinger Design Course returned. The 36 hole event featured a handful of local talent and top ranked PGA of Canada professionals. However, it was a young man named John Maley from Sudbury ON who put together a Champion's style final round to earn a spot in a 3 man playoff. After the first round, the leaderboard was packed at the top with 14 players under par and within 4 shots of the lead held by Daniel Kim (North York). Kim's first round featured 8 birdies on the card for a 5 under par 67. Nic Powell (Toronto), Alex Carrigan (Guelph) and Michael Gonko (Sudbury) finished with 3 under par 69's to sit tied 2nd after the first round... FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tuesday May 12, 2015 King City ON - After summer like conditions in the days leading up to Great Lakes Tour Regular Series Event #2 at King's Riding Golf Club in King City ON, Mother Nature decided to cool things off. The 40km/h winds and soft conditions were present from first to last tee time and were relentless at times during the day. The tough conditions didn't seem to phase Matt Hoffman (Thornhill ON) who teed off in the first group and posted a 1 under par 70. In the early going it looked like Michael Gligic (Kitchener ON) was going to cruise to victory as he made the turn at 3 under par. However, a double bogey on the 17th sent Gligic to Even par for the round where he ultimately finished in a tie for second place... |
