Hamilton ON - The Great Lakes Tour and GolfNorth Properties have formed a relationship for 2016 that will see the creation of the GolfNorth Series on the current Great Lakes Tour schedule. The new GolfNorth Series will be replacing the old Regular Series 18 hole stroke play events. The series will be contested over seven events that will be exclusively contested on GolfNorth facilities. It will feature stops at Grey Silo GC, Batteaux Creek GC, Oliver's Nest GC, Mystic GC, Rebel Creek GC, Foxwood CC and the GolfNorth Headquarters Conestoga G&CC... "We both have common goals of promoting the game and our brands, and I look forward to seeing where this can go." "This is a great relationship for both parties." Tour President Jim Kenesky says. "GolfNorth has some great facilities under their umbrella which are located in hotbed communities for golf. We have had some events with GolfNorth in the past and our experiences have been wonderful." GolfNorth has been in the industry news quite frequently over the past few weeks. With the announcement of three new properties in the past month including their latest endeavor last week, Whitetail GC near Lindsay ON. During the PGA Merchandise in Orlando, the company released they will be managing the famed Highland Links and Keltic Lodge in Nova Scotia with plans for an extensive revitalization project to both. "It is an exciting time for us at GolfNorth." States Vice President of GolfNorth Properties Mike Turner. "From the recent acquisitions, to forging partnerships like this one with the Great Lakes Tour. We both have common goals of promoting the game and our brands, and I look forward to seeing where this can go." The new GolfNorth Series will be included for all members of the Great Lakes Tour. There will be a separate GolfNorth Point Race that will see leaders by certain dates earn paid entry fees into Circuit Canada Pro Tour events. The relationship will also see a boost in one day purses. For each 2016 Great Lakes Basic and National membership sold, GolfNorth will contribute a percentage back into the purses for the Series. Kenesky explains the Series details. "We wanted to create a program that was equally beneficial. With our recent relationship with the Circuit Canada Pro Tour in Quebec, we expect to see an increase of interest in our memberships. However, we felt that our one day events needed a boost to allow for larger fields and more exposure to GolfNorth Properties." He continues. "We expect to mutually promote each other through our communications and the goal is to have the most attractive fields possible so we can showcase the GolfNorth product." The relationship is set for one year, but both Kenesky and Turner agree that a long term arrangement is very likely if they see support through their channels. The 15th season of the Great Lakes Tour is set to begin on Thursday April 28th for their annual Shootout with the first GolfNorth Series event taking place a week later on May 5th at Grey Silo Golf Club in North Waterloo. The schedule also features two 36 hole events at GolfNorth facilities. The Paris Championship on June 20-21 at Paris Grand Golf Club and the Collingwood Classic August 11-12 at Batteaux Creek Golf Club which will act as the final qualifying event for the $175,000 CCPT National Event a week later.
