Niagara Falls (ON) - The 2016 Great Lakes Tour season came to an end on Friday October 7th. The Annual Great Lakes TOUR Championship was played on the historic Legends on the Niagara Battlefield Course. The 36 hole Championship would see the top players from the season compete for both the Tour Championship and Order of Merit honours. The field of 38 players would feature Mike Gligic from Kitchener (ON) who recently finished 10th on the Mackenzie Tour Order of Merit, Mitch Sutton from London (ON), Brett Cairns from Courtland (ON), Brett Kennedy from Waterloo (ON), Brendan Barrack from Toronto (ON) who lead the Great Lakes Tour National Order of Merit and the ever consistent Brendan Leonard from Cambridge (ON)...

Paris (ON) - On Tuesday June 21 and Wednesday June 22, the Great Lakes Tour made a stop at Paris Grand Golf Club in Paris (ON) for the Paris Championship. The Azinger Design layout has been a popular stop on the Tour for many years and always delivers a dramatic finish. This visit was no exception as Great Lakes Tour members in the field had much to play for. The current relationship with Quebec based Circuit Canada Pro Tour (CCPT) has created a buzz among members and the Top 30 on the Great Lakes Tour National Order of Merit at the conclusion of the Paris Championship will gain automatic entry to both the $50,000 Desjardins Insurance Challenge at Wyndance Golf Club June 28-29 and the $100,000 Promutuel Insurance Quebec Open July 7-10.... Lindsay (ON) - 13 years ago marked the first time that the Great Lakes Tour visited Oliver's Nest Golf Club near Lindsay (ON). It was September 11, 2003 and Tour Alumni Brad Fritsch, Zoltan Veress and Martin Price played in a group that featured a round of 28-33-61 by Veress. It was the course record then and today the scorecard still sits on the pro shop wall signifying a small piece of history that still resonates around the club. On Tuesday June 7th, The Great Lakes Tour returned to Oliver's Nest for the first time in 10 years with a new look and a new group of young professionals. GolfNorth Series #3 was the tournament and is the third of seven events in the season long series. 38 players were competing in the 18 hole stroke play competition... Nottawa (ON) - On Thursday June 2nd the Great Lakes Tour visited GolfNorth Properties' Batteaux Creek Golf Club for the first time in tour history. Batteaux Creek is located in the small town of Nottawa (ON) just south of Collingwood (ON). The par 72 layout that stretches out over 7,000 yards was the site of GolfNorth Series Event #2. The 18 hole stroke play competition was the second of seven events in the GolfNorth Series and featured a very deep 45 player field. As scores began to trickle in through nine holes, it seemed that Batteaux Creek was winning the battle against par until 2015 Paris Championship winner, John Maley of Sudbury (ON) posted a stunning 4 under par 32 at the halfway point. His back nine eventualy cooled down and Maley settled for an 18 hole total of 3 under par 69... London ON – The community of London, Ontario was host to the Great Lakes Tour London Championship held at Tarandowah Golfers Club on May 19-20, 2016. The London Championship is the second of four 36 hole Championships on the current schedule and serves as a Major offering an increase in Order of Merit Points. Tarandowah Golfers Club in the small town of Avon ON just southeast of London played host to Championship and the par 70 Martin Hawtree design was a test for all competitors. The links style course was playing fast and firm and simply made each player strategize on every shot. London ON - The Great Lakes Tour will be making a visit to the community of London, Ontario this week. May 19 & 20 will mark the playing of the London Championship hosted by Tarandowah Golfer's Club located Southeast of London in the small town of Avon. Local professional Alan McLean will headline the field of 45 competitors. McLean is a resident of London and calls Forest City National his Home Golf Course. In the past, McLean was a member of the European Tour, Sunshine Tour in South Africa and the MacKenzie Tour where he's a past winner. McLean played many seasons on the Great Lakes Tour and sits inside the Top 5 in all time earnings... Barrie ON - The Great Lakes Tour visited the community of Barrie, Ontario on Thursday May 12 and Friday May 13 for the first of four 36 hole championships on the current season schedule. The Barrie Classic hosted by Tangle Creek Golf Club was headlined by a number of talented professionals from across Canada. The picturesque par 72 Tangle Creek Golf Club was in wonderful spring condition and would prove to be a great test for the field of touring and PGA golf professionals. The #2 Ranked Player in the PGA of Canada player rankings, Dave Levesque, made the trip to Barrie from the province of Quebec where he is the reigning PGA of Quebec Player of the Year. Ken Tarling, a European Senior Tour member was playing alongside Levesque for the first round and local professionals Eric Hawerchuk, Drew Nesbitt, Ryan Curran, Ian Doig and Colton Kalkanis were also competing in the field of 50 players... Barrie ON - The Great Lakes Tour will be visiting Barrie ON this Thursday and Friday May 12-13 for the Barrie Classic Hosted by Tangle Creek Golf Club. This is the first of four 36 hole Championships on the current schedule and the field is shaping up to be one of the strongest in recent years. The field will feature one of Canada's top professionals as the #2 ranked PGA of Canada player Dave Levesque will be coming to Barrie. Levesque was the 2014 PGA Championship of Canada Champion, 2015 Hawkesbury Invitational Champion, 2015 Promutuel Insurance Quebec Open Champion and the 2015 PGA of Quebec Player of the Year. Levesque enters the field as one of the hottest players in the country over the past 12 months just behind the remarkable year by another Great Lakes Tour member Danny King... North Waterloo ON - The Great Lakes Tour returned to the par 71 Grey Silo Golf Course after a short absence for the first of seven GolfNorth Series events on the schedule. Grey Silo Golf Course, a property of GolfNorth, hosted the LPGA Tour's Manulife Classic from 2012 to 2014 and was a long time host facility for the Great Lakes Tour for many years previous to that. The golf course was in pristine spring condition with firm and fast conditions throughout. The field of 50 competitors were treated to some dry, cool and breezy conditions for most of the day and some of the biggest names in Ontario professional golf were present... Burlington ON - The 15th season of the Great Lakes Tour began Thursday April 28th on the par 71 Hidden Lake Golf Club Old Course in Burlington, Ontario for the Annual Shootout. Play began at 8am in near freezing temperatures that did not recover much throughout the day. Overcast and windy conditions persisted for every player in the field. The event featured 38 professionals and 3 amateurs competing for entry fees on the Great Lakes Tour 2016 schedule. First prize for the winner would receive all eleven Great Lakes Tour events which holds a face value of $2795... |
