Hamilton ON - The Great Lakes Tour (GLT) is pleased to welcome award winning Canadian golf writer and long-time Hamilton Spectator sports columnist Garry McKay for their 20th Anniversary season. The GLT is also pleased to become associate members of the Golf Journalists Association of Canada (GJAC). Garry McKay will bring his award winning writing style, legendary voice and experience to the media relations of the GLT for this historic season. The GLT, based in Hamilton ON, will be targeting key stories throughout the 2021 season that highlight the history, the partners, the players (past and present) and accomplishments during the 20th Anniversary season. These stories from McKay along with tournament results, post tournament wrap-ups and partner spotlights will all come together in a booklet/ebook showcasing the GLT season and their 20 year history. ''We have a truly unique history of the Great Lakes Tour. One we're very proud of, yet one we seldom talk about.'' GLT President Jim Kenesky says. ''Making the decision to bring in one of Canada's longest and legendary golf writers to help us highlight this history was very important for us. Twenty years of providing tournaments for elite golfers in Canada is quite an accomplishment. It only makes sense to have one of the most reputable voices in the industry, especially in the Hamilton region, to deliver our message.'' "I know how important the Great Lakes Tour has been in helping young players, both pros and amateurs, develop their game for the next level and I'm excited about telling some of those great stories." Says McKay of the relationship. The GLT have also become an Associate Member of the Golf Journalists Association of Canada (GJAC) in an effort to stay connected with writers and publications across Canada. The move comes not long after the GLT joined the membership of Golf Canada/Golf Ontario. ''We are on to something big, and many plans have been fast-tracked by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.'' Continues Kenesky. ''The golf media and many of the amazing writers in our country have struggled through this pandemic. We want to show our support and when more details of our season are confirmed, the members of GJAC will be the first to know and hopefully help us in spreading the message across the country. We are all in this together and competitive golf in Canada is on the brink of some major advancements.'' Garry McKay has already started on projects for the GLT with his first story to be ready for release on or around March 15th. The GLT’s confirmed schedule with registration and membership options will be available at a similar time.
