STATEMENT FROM GREAT LAKES GOLF TOUR: Like most of our members and fellow golf professionals, the news that the Circuit Canada Pro Tour ceasing it's operation for the 2019 season came as a surprise. We held this partnership in a high regard and have much respect for Jean Trudeau and his team. It is important that all of us who had the pleasure of competing on their circuit or working with Mr. Trudeau, give him a big thank you and best wishes on his departure. We are very grateful for the work he displayed and the opportunities he provided Great Lakes Tour members over the past 3 seasons. In this same time, the Great Lakes Tour has grown immensely to offer professionals in Ontario and across North America a platform to compete at a high level and continue their development towards the ultimate goal of competing on the PGA TOUR. We are dedicated to keep investing in the growth of our tour and remain as one of the top developmental golf tours in North America. We are an open golf tour and welcome professionals from all across Canada, and the World for that matter, to come test their games against some of the strongest fields in Canadian golf.
We are currently in discussions with Mr. Trudeau regarding the status of the 2019 schedule and will be travelling to Montreal late next week to discuss in person. It will be our objective to inform and update all members and those interested in the Great Lakes Tour on what transpires. It is important that professionals in Canada continue to have opportunities and pathways to compete at a higher level. It is our goal to make this happen. In the meantime, the Great Lakes Tour will continue to operate as normal and we have a great schedule of events available in Ontario. It is our intention to uphold the $20,000 guaranteed purse events and the $40,000 Southern Ontario Open. Please note, that under our model, field size minimums must be met. However, we are confident this will not be an issue as we have seen a healthy increase in participation the past two seasons. We are willing to take the risk, so long as we continue to see the support. We look forward to seeing everyone at Grey Silo GC for the GLT Waterloo Championship and we hope to have more answers to the many questions we've received. Please know we are working hard to make 2019 a very good season regardless of the unfortunate news of this week. Sincerely, Great Lakes Tour Jim Kenesky Colin Murray
