Seaforth ON - The Seaforth Country Classic (SCC) and the Great Lakes Tour (GLT) have agreed on a partnership to bring back the extremely popular tournament in 2018.  The SCC will feature a new invitational format with 36 male participants and 36 female participants playing in  separate tournaments.

The SCC is scheduled for August 2-4. 2018 and will feature a Championship Pro Am on August 2nd  followed by a 36 hole (no cut) stroke play competition for both fields August 3rd and 4th. 34 of 36 male participants will be comprised of GLT members gaining exemptions through the National Order of Merit standings and various events on the GLT schedule deemed as qualifier events.  Seaforth Golf Club and the SCC organizing committee will have two exemptions available for  local talent.

GLT President Jim Kenesky had this to say regarding the partnership.  "We are extremely excited to partner with the Seaforth Country Classic.  It has always been a popular event among our members and it was sad to see it disappear last year.  It's a great tournament for the local community in Seaforth and even more important are the local charities that are impacted.  This will be another great opportunity for our players in 2018 as Seaforth GC always puts on a top notch event."

The Female field will remain Open and is set to feature touring professionals from across North America.  Robyn Doig, a former Symetra Tour member and SCC representative ultimately brought the idea forward.  Her and the organizing committee couldn't be more excited to have the event back next season featuring some of the top male and female golfers in the country.

Maureen Agar and Carolanne Doig from the SCC committee submitted the following statement.  "The organizers and volunteers of the Seaforth Country Classic are thrilled to be partnering with the Great Lake Tour and are looking forward to welcoming all the golfers to our 2018 tournament"

The SCC began in 2008 as a Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada event and remained as part of their schedule for 4 years.  In 2012 it was established as a stand alone event attracting the top touring, PGA professionals and elite amateurs in the province.  The tournament has raised over $100,000 for local medical charities since its inception and continues to be a highlight as a local  community event.  Past Champions include Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada member Michael Gligic (2016) and Golf Channel's Big Break participant David Markle (2015, 2013) to name a few.

More details on the tournament itinerary, purse amounts and qualifying process will be available in January.  Communication will be sent out through both GLT and SCC websites and social media channels.
