Since the Great Lakes Tour was established in 2001, it has become a true starting point for many professionals in Canada. With over 20 years of being in operation the Tour has produced 66 members (as of April 2022) that have participated in at least one GLT event and have gone on to compete in at least one event on the PGA TOUR. That number dramatically doubles for professionals that have competed on the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA TOUR Champions. Many current members are winners and members of PGA TOUR Canada and PGA TOUR Latinoamerica. It is a history the Tour Directors remain proud of and here is what some past members have said about their playing experience and time while competing on the GLT.
Michael Gligic, PGA TOUR MEMBER
"The GLT was instrumental in the development of my career as a professional golfer. I loved having the opportunity to test my game against great competition on outstanding golf courses all across Ontario. Learning how to win and how to handle being in contention is paramount at every level of professional golf and the GLT helped me tremendously with that. I still draw on those experiences to this day and will continue to do so on the PGA Tour."
David Hearn, PGA Tour Member
"The Great Lakes Tour provides Canadian players a great opportunity to compete at a high level without the hassle of travelling great distances to play events. Winning on the Great Lakes Tour in the 2004 season boosted my confidence, and helped me learn how to win at the professional level”
Danny King, 2015 PGA Championship of Canada Champion
“The Great Lakes Tour fills the void for tournament golf in Canada. The ability to compete against former PGA, Korn Ferry and PGA Tour Canada professionals allows aspiring players to develop and mature their games to a higher level. I've been fortunate to have had some success on the Tour and will take these experiences to further benefit my game and compete in events worldwide. The Great Lakes Tour commitment to improve and professionalism displayed is one that I support".
Ben Ferguson, PGA Tour Member 2002
“The Great Lakes Tour has provided me with a competitive atmosphere to keep my game sharp. As a former PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour player, I know what it takes to win, and to win out here, I have to be at my best. I think for someone that has just turned pro, its the perfect platform to get to the next level.
